I’ve always loved solving problems; as a kid I did it with Lego and by writing computer programs on the school’s BBC Micro; as a young man I did it through my engineering degree and by figuring out how to get up the mountains of the UK, Europe and South America; once I’d settled into a career I wrestled with the problems that crop up daily for an operations manager; and at home I renovated our house, working out how a building is put together and the best way to improve it to suit the needs of our young family.
My practical experience of problem solving is backed up by a strong academic background, including a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. I take a consistently logical approach to finding a solution, this is inherently valuable when solving computer problems but also invaluable in a range of other situations.
